Unlike yoga, which has a tradition that goes back thousands of years, one individual developed the Pilates Method at the beginning of the twentieth century.

In 1880 in Dusseldorf, Germany, a sickly baby named Joseph Pilates was born. As a young child he watched as his friends ran, jumped and played games -activities that he could not do because of his frail, weak body. That is when the Pilates Method really began. Pilates was determined to find a way to improve his health and physical strength and stamina. He set off on a lifelong quest for fitness and exercise. Pilates not only overcame his physical frailties – he mastered them. He became an accomplished yogi, boxer, gymnast, and skier.

During World War I, Pilates was interned in England where he worked as a nurse with injured war victims. Pilates was convinced that exercise could help rehabilitate their badly damaged bodies. Many of these patients were not able to move, but that did nothing to deter Pilates‘ determination to help them gain strength and mobility. He rigged up their hospital beds with straps and springs and created a series of exercises to help move their joints through a greater range of motion. The exercises also helped his patients develop muscle strength, flexibility and endurance. Eventually, many of these people were able to get up and move around by themselves.

In 1923, Joseph Pilates and his wife moved to New York City where they opened up a studio and began working to rehabilitate injured dancers. Some of the most famous dancers that they worked with were George Balanchine and Martha Graham. Word of the dramatic results that came from using the Pilates method spread, and soon it became the exercise of choice for not only dancers, but also entertainment stars and professional athletes. For a long time, this unique form of exercise was limited to this elite community.

That has all changed. Now millions of people are familiar with the Pilates method of exercise. They have discovered for themselves that Pilates can help them gain the strength, flexibility, and balance of a professional dancer, without having to spend hours at the gym. High Blood Pressure During Exercise

A study from Johns Hopkins shows that people who develop very high blood pressure during exercise are the ones most likely to develop high blood pressure in later years (American Journal of Hypertension, April 2004.) These people have arteries that do not expand as much as normal arteries when blood is pumped to them.

When your heart beats, it squeezes blood from inside its chambers to the large arteries. This sudden bolus of blood causes normal arteries to expand like balloons do when they fill with air. The walls of arteries have sensors that allow arteries to expand with each pulse of blood. If the arteries do not expand enough when blood enters them, blood pressure can rise very high. Blood pressure is determined by the force of the heart’s contraction times the resistance in the blood vessels. Normal blood pressure is 120 when the heart contracts and 80 when it relaxes. During exercise, the heart beats with increased force to raise blood pressure. It is normal for blood pressure to rise up to 200 over 80 during running, and to 300 over 200 while doing a leg press with very heavy weights.

People with normal resting blood pressures who develop very high blood pressure during exercise are the ones most likely to develop high blood pressure later on. If your blood pressure rises much above 200 during running, you are at increased risk for developing high blood pressure.

Ninety percent of Americans will develop high blood pressure, which increases risk for heart attacks, strokes, kidney damage and sudden death. High blood pressure usually occurs in people who have normal blood pressures when they were young. If you have an exaggerated blood pressure rise during exercise, you should go on a heart attack prevention program that includes a diet that is high in plants and low in saturated fats and refined carbohydrates, regular exercise, losing weight if you are overweight, not smoking, and avoiding stimulants and drugs that raise blood pressure.

If your body gets too much strain at the very beginning, it will react negatively and that will prove dangerous for your health. However, if you start with small weight goals and then go on to bigger goals then your body will be accustomed to your weight loss patterns and it will react more positively.

3. Exercises are yet another way to get rid of flabby arms. There are two types of upper arms exercises. One is strength training. Strength training will not only help you lose weight, it will also enable you to gain muscles. Too many women share the misconception that once they start gaining muscle, their arms will become fatty. This is nothing but a myth. Rather, the more muscles you gain, the stronger your arms will be!

Here’s the best weight loss exercise you can do that takes only 5 minutes of your time. Yet, fat will pour off your body. It’s a simple exercise you can do at home, but I must warn you… it’s not EASY. Read this now if you’re busy and want to save some time while getting in your fat burning exercise.

Best Weight Loss Exercise – Hindu Squats

First off I want to say that there are a lot of great weight loss exercises you can do. I like this one in particular because I can get it over with in 5 minutes. So on days when I’m too busy to go to the gym or do my normal workouts, instead I just do this 5 minutes of fat-burning nirvana.

Before I tell you how to do this, let me say that the reason why this burns off a lot of calories and fat is because it creates an oxygen deficit that is bigger than most other exercises. This is caused because of the speed at which you do these. You do them fast.

Now, fast is relative. What’s fast to you is slow to me. But that doesn’t matter. It just has to be fast FOR YOU INDIVIDUALLY. If it feels fast to you, then you’re doing it right.

Ok, now to describing hindu squats.

The parameters of doing this are simple. You do these for 5 minutes NON-STOP. Now, you may not accomplish this the first few tries that you do them. That’s ok. Just remember, that’s the goal. Another goal you should look to is to accomplish 100 reps of hindu squats in those 5 minutes.

If you’re not getting 100 in 5 minutes, you’re doing them too slow. Be sure to squat down far enough too. People tend to cheat by not squatting down far enough just so they can get the required 100 reps. It’s better to do full squats where the top of your thighs go below parallel to the ground and get only 80 squats than it is to do 115 squats doing 1/2 squats.

As you can probably tell by now, these are only bodyweight squats. Weights are unneeded. You get what you put into this exercise. It’s something you need to commit full effort to in order to get fast weight loss results.

I consider this the single best weight loss exercise for busy people.
